YWHAG Community Meeting Recap

`Couldn’t make the May 19 Zoom? Here’s the highlights:

  • Science spotlight. Dr Helen Chen explained how YWHAG variants impact gamma protein function and previewed new mouse-model and iPSC data.

  • Growing family. We’re now 51 registered families. That is up from 35 last fall. We are glad more and more familes are finding our community.

  • Matched giving. CURE Epilepsy will match every dollar we raise (goal: $50 k) toward a Rare Epilepsy Partnership Award.

  • Community involvement in research

    • Blood draws for Simons Searchlight fuel patient-derived neuron studies.

    • Baby-tooth kits from Tulane let scientists grow nerve cells straight from dental pulp.

  • Natural-History Study. 20 U.S. families have completed interviews; international enrollment opens next month.

  • Funding reality check. With potential NIH cuts, community giving is more critical than ever.

  • Shop the YWHAG Foundation Store: 100% of proceeds fund research.
